I thought I had the perfect socks with the John Henrys, however the William Jarvis are the perfect sock for me. Why?
Thicker – stronger – but not warmer – just warm enough (same warmth as the John Henry). These are my go to wool socks.
Ironic as they are named after one of the giants of the Vermont – wool industry .

Probably the best socks I’ve ever owned! Great fit (I wear a size 12 – 12.5 shoe and the sock size Large was perfect) and extremely warm and comfortable!
They’re great for pretty much any type of use too. I’ve worn them for cold weather golf and fishing as well as casual wear although I maybe like them best for just lounging around the house!
The lifetime guarantee make these a no brainer and Zappos great service seals the deal!

What a great pair of socks! Kinda like the world’s most comfortable foot warmers! I wear these pretty much anytime the temperature is below 50 degrees and the colder it gets the better I like them. Great for any cold weather outdoor activity be it golf, fishing, hunting, you name it. I also really like them for lounging around the house during the winter months as they’re just that warm and comfortable. I wear anywhere from a size 12 to 13 shoe depending on the brand and the XL is the best fit for me in the Darn Tough’s. I have a couple other styles of this brand and they’re equally good and work well in warmer temperatures or for dress. Highly recommend Darn Tough!

These were great socks but did elastic not stay up when worn in a higher boot. Bought these for my husband who has average (not muscular) calves and wears cowboy boots.

This sock meets its goal of providing cushion on the lace area of boots, at the cost of it being warmer than some other socks. For my use case of 50/50 steel toes/tennis shoes, the extra cushion made the socks a bit too warm, and I preferred the cushion from the steelys. But the sock itself is good, it just doesn’t fit my use case.
